Mrvan Joins Announcement of ARP Broadband Investment for Indiana
Washington, DC – Earlier this week, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan joined senior administration officials, including Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo, in announcing federal investments in broadband technology for Indiana under the American Rescue Plan (ARP).
According to the Department of Treasury, the federal funds will support Indiana’s Next Level Connections Broadband Grant Program, which supports broadband infrastructure and services to areas and locations currently lacking access to at least 25/3 Mbps, with a focus on services to school buildings, rural health clinics, and households with students.
Congressman Frank J. Mrvan stated, “I am proud that one of my first formative votes in Congress was for the American Rescue Plan. Not only did this law save lives, support small businesses, and reopen our schools, but it is also improving broadband services that are critical for the success of our economies. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed disparities in access to healthcare, mental healthcare, and education resources, and this federal investment is essential to closing that gap and ensuring that everyone has the capabilities to access the tools they need to succeed and be healthy.”
“The pandemic upended life as we knew it—from work to school to connecting with friends and family—and exposed the stark inequity in access to affordable and reliable high-speed internet in communities across the country, but especially in rural, tribal, and low-income communities,” said Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo. “This funding will lay the foundation for the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic investments to increase access to high-speed internet and reduce broadband bills for American households and businesses.”
