Valparaiso-based health care network HealthLinc will receive $500,000 to partner with National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers to expedite patient access to cancer care and treatment.
The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through its Health Resources and Services Administration’s Accelerating Cancer Screening program. The grant was announced locally Wednesday by U.S. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, D-Highland.
The Munster Police Department will receive $215,000 in funding to upgrade technology and equipment.
The upgrades will improve efficiencies within the police department. They will also enhance officers’ efforts to investigate and solve crimes.

The Munster Police Department is preparing to upgrade its technology and other equipment using $215,000 in federal funds earmarked for the effort by U.S. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, D-Highland.

U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan and Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana board members announced that the Hammond-based center will receive $963,000 in federal funding.
The Challenger Learning Center will use the funds to install and upgrade its mission control simulators. The center offers STEM education opportunities for students throughout Indiana.
