Daily Update on Federal Disaster Response in Northwest Indiana

Throughout all of Northwest Indiana, I continue to be impressed by witnessing the powerful efforts of our faith-based organizations, non-profits, local businesses and our municipalities standing shoulder to shoulder to support one another and ensure no one in our community goes hungry.  We are demonstrating who we are and how together we will get through this recovery.  

I wanted to highlight some of these latest initiatives from the region below:

Lake Ridge Fire Protection District

Water and Supply Donations Needed - The Lake Ridge Fire Protection District is accepting water and relief supplies for residents in unincorporated Calumet Township and unincorporated Gary, where storm damage has caused major power and water outages.

Urgent:

  • Cases of bottled water
  • 5 gallon jugs

High Priority:

  • Non perishable food
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Hygiene kits

Drop Off:

  • Lake Ridge Fire Protection District
  • 2301 West 47th Avenue, Gary, IN 46408

Office of the Calumet Township Trustee

The Office of the Calumet Township Trustee is partnering with Sanders BBQ Co. to provide 500 freshly prepared hot meals to residents this Tuesday.

  • Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2026
  • Time: Starts at 4:00 PM, while supplies last
  • Location: The Village Parking Lot
  • Address: 3596 Village Court, Gary, IN 46408
  • Distribution: Drive-Up service – residents should remain in their vehicles
