Daily Update on Federal Disaster Response in Northwest Indiana

As we continue in the storm recovery, I wanted to share updates below on assistance from the United Way Northwest Indiana and the One-Stop-Shop happening now in Portage. 

United Way Northwest Indiana

United Way Northwest Indiana has established a Storm Recovery Assistance Program to help eligible households address financial challenges caused by the storms. The program is intended to help fill gaps that may remain even after insurance and other forms of assistance, including unexpected expenses related to housing, childcare, missed work, transportation, and damaged belongings.

If your household has been financially impacted by the storms, I encourage you to visit the United Way Northwest Indiana's Storm Recovery Assistance Eligibility Application page, www.unitedwaynwi.org/storm-recovery-assistance, and complete the eligibility application. Applications will be reviewed based on program requirements and available funding.

One-Stop-Shop in Portage

Please remember the One-Stop-Shop for Storm Assistance continues this week at Woodland Park, in the Sycamore Room, in Portage: 

                              Wednesday, September 9:                    9:00am to 7:00pm
                              Thursday, September 10:                      9:00am to 7:00pm
                              Friday, September 11:                              9:00am to 7:00pm
                              Saturday, September 12:                       9:00am to 4:00pm
Regular Updates

I remain grateful for the tremendous efforts of all of our local, state, and federal partners, as well as the countless volunteers and members of our non-profit organizations, religious institutions, linemen, and members of the National Guard who have helped in this recovery effort.  We have shown our true grit, and as we approach the one month mark of the derecho, I know that we will continue to thrive and recover together. 

At this time, my office will continue to provide regular updates and remains committed to working with every level of government and alongside our community partners to make sure Northwest Indiana residents can access every available resource as we recover and rebuild.
