U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan names students to military academies

U.S. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan has nominated nine local students from Indiana’s First Congressional District to military academies.

The nominations were recommended by a Military Service Academy Board, which includes veterans, community leaders and active duty service members from across the district.

The following students named by Mrvan have accepted their appointments:

Grant Best, Mount Carmel High School, Chicago, U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School; Cooper Burton, Wheeler High School, U.S. Air Force Academy; Talina Cisneros, Hammond Central High School, U.S. Naval Preparatory School; Shane Conroy, Portage High School, U.S. Naval Academy; Luke Granzow, Hobart High School, U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School.

Also: Maverick Markos, Westville High School, U.S. Military Academy at West Point; Brayden Mercier, Chesterton High School, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; Damian Resendez, Mount Carmel High School, U.S. Military Academy at West Point Prep; Madalyn Richardson, Washington Township High School,  U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
