Mrvan Announces IN-01 Airport Funds from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan announced new federal funding available for Northwest Indiana airports under the recent bipartisan infrastructure law, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the Gary/Chicago International Airport is expected to receive $763,000, the Porter County Airport is expected to receive $295,000, and the Michigan City Municipal Airport is expected to receive $159,000. This funding will aim to increase airport safety, equity, and sustainability, and can be used for investments in runways, taxiways, safety and sustainability projects, as well as terminal, airport-transit connections, and roadway projects.
“I was proud to support the bipartisan infrastructure law and am pleased to see these immediate and tangible results for airports in Indiana’s First Congressional District. It is notable that these investments will build upon the great strides already being made at our airports, including the recent U.S. Customs facility and the extension of the runway at the Gary/Chicago International Airport. I look forward to continuing to work with the City of Gary and all of our regional airport officials to harness the impact of these new investments and further grow our regional economy with new business opportunities and good-paying jobs.”
