Mrvan Announces Child Care Access Grant Award for University of Saint Francis
Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan announced a federal grant award for University of Saint Francis under the Department of Education’s Child Care Access Means Parents in School program.
According to the Department of Education, University of Saint Francis will receive $65,700 for their Crown Point site to partner with area childcare centers to provide high-quality childcare for the children of student parents in order to develop a robust system to support the families of student parents and improve recruitment, retention, and graduation rates.
Congressman Mrvan stated, “I am grateful to the leaders of the University of Saint Francis for their efforts to successfully obtain this federal resource to assist students who are parents. I look forward to continuing to work to ensure that all individuals throughout Northwest Indiana have opportunities to thrive and succeed in their educational pursuits.”
University of Saint Francis Interim President Dr. Lance Richey stated, “The Child Care Access Means Parents in School program grant will be of huge benefit to many students at the University of Saint Francis. We continue to seek ways to put our students in the best possible position for success. This assistance in childcare for our students who are parents is greatly appreciated.”
