Mrvan Announces OSHA Grant Award for Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan announced a federal grant award for the Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana under the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Susan Harwood Training Grant program. 

According to OSHA, the Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana will receive a Targeted Topic Training Grant award for $135,565 to institute a workplace mental health awareness and suicide prevention training program.  Specifically, the program is expected to train individuals on awareness and recognition of mental health resources in the workplace.

Congressman Mrvan stated, “I applaud the initiative of the Construction Advancement Foundation to continue their commitment to the well-being and safety of workers in Northwest Indiana.  I will continue to do all I can to support federal resources that are targeted to improve access and awareness of valuable mental health resources.”

Construction Advancement Foundation Executive Director, Dewey Pearman stated, “The success of this grant approval reflects a commitment to the highest standards of worksite safety on the part of Northwest Indiana’s contractors, building trades, unions, and project owners, and we want to thank Congressman Mrvan for his support of worker safety.”
