April 20, 2024

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan spoke on the House floor in support of the emergency supplemental funding legislative package.

Additional information on the legislation is available here, a video of the Congressman’s remarks is available here, and the full statement as prepared for delivery is below.

“I thank Ranking Member DeLauro for the time and also want to firstly applaud the dedicated work of her and all of the leaders and staff of the House Appropriations Committee on both sides of the aisle for their perseverance and commitment to creating and advancing this legislation.

“I am proud to support this legislative package that is of paramount importance to the strength of our nation, to the American worker, and for our role as a world leader that is working to defend democracy.

“This is an incredibly serious moment in time for our nation, for Ukraine, and for Israel, and I appreciate that these measures rise to the occasion to provide necessary resources for those in need.

“Notably, these measures provide critical funding for equipment, weapons, and logistics support for Ukraine’s military, as well as additional funds to aid in the defense of our ally Israel and the replenishment of equipment for the Iron Dome and David’s Sling defense systems, and also includes $9 billion to address the dire need for humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza.

“Given the critical importance of our domestic manufacturing industry to our national security, I also am grateful that these measures support the American worker and include specific funds for the U.S. submarine industrial base.

“Thank you again to Ranking Member DeLauro for the time and for your leadership.  I encourage all of my colleagues in the House and Senate to support these measures and move with all haste to ensure that they are signed into law as soon as possible.”
