Mrvan Statement in Advance of the State of the Union Address
Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan released the following statement in advance of the President’s State of the Union Address.
“As we approach the President’s State of the Union address tonight, I look forward to a discussion of the aggression and humanitarian crisis currently occurring in Ukraine, and of the pressing domestic issues facing our nation.
“Over the past year, I am proud that Congress passed, and the President signed into law, the American Rescue Plan, which provided invaluable resources to our communities and saved lives and livelihoods. Congress has also passed, and the President signed into law, the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is one of our nation’s largest investments in our ports, airports, water infrastructure, roads, bridges, and mass transit.
“Going forward, I will continue to strive for Congress and the Administration to achieve the same success in addressing the inflation challenges that are currently impacting so many individuals and families. Corporations must not be allowed to use the pandemic health crisis and military actions to reap windfall profits. Manufacturers who return jobs to our shores must be rewarded, and our trade policies must do more to recognize the dignity of American workers.
“As the Co-Chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus, I will continue to focus my efforts to collaborate with like-minded individuals to ensure that we support the domestic steel industry and our invaluable steelworkers that provide for our national economy and our national security.
“I believe that the challenges facing our country today are no match for our abilities when we are able to unite and work together to solve problems.”
