Mrvan Statement on Iran

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan released the statement below regarding Iran.

“There is no doubt that Iran and their nuclear weapon ambitions currently pose a serious threat to the United States, our allies, and the Middle East region.  

“Given the Administration's unilateral action, now is the time to be steadfast in our support for the courageous men and women of the Armed Forces who are in harm’s way.

“Under the U.S. Constitution, it is the sole responsibility for Congress to declare war, and history has taught us that open-ended military engagement in this region carries profound consequences for our troops, their families, and our national security.  

“Therefore, I call on Speaker Johnson to reconvene the House so we can receive a full briefing from the Administration and hold an immediate vote on a War Powers Resolution.”
