Mrvan Statement on Potential Block of U.S. Steel Sale
Washington, DC – Rep. Frank J. Mrvan released the following statement in response to media reports on the potential block of the sale of U.S. Steel to Nippon Steel.
“National security is my number one priority and is not a partisan issue, and should this sale be blocked I would applaud the action of the Administration to protect this critical industry from foreign ownership. As the Vice Chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus, I have stood with our incredible members of organized labor and argued since day one that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States use every tool available to assess how this sale may jeopardize the strength of our economy, our national security, and the livelihoods of steel-producing communities throughout our nation. I will continue to do everything I can as the Representative for the First Congressional District of Indiana to support the domestic steel industry, Buy America requirements, and the full enforcement of our U.S. trade laws.”
