Last week, U.S. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, D-1st, joined with Col. Kenneth Rockwell, Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Chicago District (USACE), Supt. Jason Taylor, Indiana Dunes National Park and Ryan McCoy, Port Director of the Ports of Indiana – Burns Harbor, in a tour of certain federally funded projects across Northwest Indiana.

Specifically, Mrvan toured the Michigan City Harbor, the Indiana Dunes National Park, and the Ports of Indiana – Burns Harbor.

Citgo Petroleum in East Chicago will receive an $18.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to establish the Chicago Area SAF Blending Hub-Citgo Terminal in East Chicago.

United States Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, D-Highland, on Thursday announced the grant from the Federal Aviation Administration's Fueling Aviation's Sustainable Transition grant program.

The project is intended to enable the delivery, unloading, blending and use of up to 42,000 gallons per day of sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF.

Issues ranging from supporting infrastructure and economic growth in Northwest Indiana to women’s reproductive rights have been on the plate of U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan.

National Indivisible Guide’s local chapter, Indivisible NWI, held a public forum on Aug. 14 at the La Porte County Public Library, where Mrvan, D-Highland, discussed topics of importance for both Northwest Indiana and the country.

Rep. Frank J. Mrvan recently announced a federal grant under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Accelerating Cancer Screening program for HealthLinc in Valparaiso.

According to HHS, HealthLinc will receive $500,000 to partner directly with National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Centers to expedite patient access to cancer care and treatment.

Valparaiso-based health care network HealthLinc will receive $500,000 to partner with National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers to expedite patient access to cancer care and treatment.

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through its Health Resources and Services Administration’s Accelerating Cancer Screening program. The grant was announced locally Wednesday by U.S. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, D-Highland.

The Munster Police Department will receive $215,000 in funding to upgrade technology and equipment. 

The upgrades will improve efficiencies within the police department. They will also enhance officers’ efforts to investigate and solve crimes. 

U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan and Indiana State Rep. Mike Andrade joined city officials to celebrate the funding.
